It looks like Google’s Webmaster Tools are acting up tonight. It’s taking forever for the main webmaster tools page to load in the first place — approximately 90 seconds — and then the information looks pretty outdated and just wrong.
First, it says that none of my sites are verified (the step where you prove to Google that you control that web site), when I’ve already done that.
Second, it says that no pages from any of my sites are in Google’s index:
No pages from your site are currently included in Google’s index. Indexing can take time. You may find it helpful to review our information for webmasters and webmaster guidelines.
Thankfully, that’s not true. My pages haven’t disappeared from Google, although not everyone has been able to say that these days.
And then the last thing that’s wrong is that of the handful of sites I have in there, Google says that their crawler hasn’t visited any of them more recently than almost 4 months ago:
Googlebot last successfully accessed your home page on Sep 9, 2006.
That’s the most recent. Most of the others are within a few days of that.
Oh, and all of the pages for each site with that information take a long time to load as well. Not 90 seconds, but in the 10-15 second range.
So right now it’s completely useless for me. I haven’t checked the webmaster tools section in a few months, and just thought I’d take a look tonight to go exploring and see what’s going on with my sites. But I can’t. I don’t want to try re-verifying them to let me get access to the statistics, because obviously there are problems and I don’t want to try changing anything around while Google is apparently so confused about my sites.
So I’ll just try back another day. Oh, and post this to see if anyone else is having the same problems, or if I just got lucky and it’s only my account that’s acting up. So… anyone else?
