Thunderbird 1.5 is out

Posted on Thursday 12 January 2006

Not to jump on the bandwagon or anything, but it looks like Thunderbird 1.5 is out now, and with some nice-looking new features. The automatic draft saving looks good, since I’ve gotten way too used to that (and maybe a little spoiled) by having it on Gmail. That alone makes it a must-download for me.

The one thing that I want to see (that Gmail has as well but Thunderbird didn’t) is an “always show images in messages from this sender” option. There are some people or organizations that e-mail me often, and I always want to see the images in those messages. In Gmail I can do that, but in the last version of Thunderbird I couldn’t.

I don’t see that on the list of changes anywhere, but it might not be big enough to make it. If it’s not there at all, I might have to finally get around to submitting a feature request.

Or maybe I just write about it here and hope that people will find it through the magic of the Interweb. Come on Interweb, do your thing!

Hmm.

Maybe that’s being a little too lazy.

Anyway, go get Thunderbird. This is a good time to switch from Outlook, especially if you like having a little security from viruses and other bad things while reading your e-mail.
