Last week’s instance of my XP firewall acting up keeps happening. Most of the time I can’t get into my home machine via SSH because XP, for some reason, has decided that the port should be closed, even though it’s forwarded in the firewall configuration.
Like before, unchecking the box for that port, saying OK, and then going back in and rechecking the box will re-enable SSH, although not for very long these days.
At this point I don’t know what changed to make it constantly fail. I even rebooted the XP machine, and it’s still happening. It was going along just fine for roughly a year. Anyone ever see anything like that?
Maybe it’s just a sign that it’s time to move the internet connection to the Linux box and let it be the firewall for the rest of the network. I have a feeling this wouldn’t be happening on there.
