Comcast Outage Stats

Since my Internet connection was going down so often, and because I’m a complete geek, I wrote a small script to keep track of the outages. It only checks my cable modem’s connectivity, so doesn’t include cases where my connection was fine but Comcast was having other issues that made the Internet unavailable.

June (starting on the 4th): 126 hours of downtime (5.2 days). Down for 20% of the month.

July: 156 hours of downtime (6.5 days). Down for 28% of the month.

August, so far: 64 hours of downtime.

Does that mean things are getting better? August is on track to be my best month in a while. Does saying stuff like that jinx it, and mean my connection is going to be down for a week after I post this?
